Poitiers is a town on the Clain River in west central France. It is a commune and the capital (préfecture) of the Vienne département and of the Poitou-Charentes région. The town is picturesque; and its streets are interesting for their remains of ancient architecture, especially of the Romanesque period, and the memories of great historical events.

• To reach Paris from the Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport, the easiest is to take RER line B (all trains go to Paris). Alternatively, you can train Roissy Bus or airline shuttles to reach Paris, and then use metro or bus.
• To reach Paris from the Orly airport, the easiest is to take the Orly Bus that stops at Denfert-Rochereau station (about 15 minutes). Alternatively, you can take the Orly Val to reach line B of the RER. Airline shuttles are also available to reach Paris.
